The NASCAR team is expanding its program with the power of Roush Yates in 2022.
Rick Ware Racing will join the Ford Performance family for the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season. The team currently owns a mix of Fords and Chevrolets.
In addition to loyalty to the manufacturer, the team has also signed an alliance with Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR). Roush Yates Engines will provide power to the cars.
Rick Ware Racing offers a wide range of NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity, NTT INDYCAR and NASCAR Pinty cars. The team has also qualified for the 2020 Asian Le Mans Series championship.
“I’m very excited about what 2022 has in store for RWR,” commented team owner Rick Ware.
“We’ve been waiting for the Next Gen car to become a reality and expand our program. RWR has had a great relationship with SHR over the years, from Cole Custer making his Cup Series debut with us to using their development team over the years. I’m excited to have an engineering alliance with a great team like SHR to be able to help build our cars and be supported in this important development process throughout the 2022 season.”
Ware added: “The partnership with Roush Yates Engines and SHR is the next logical step in continuing to grow as an organization.”
“It’s been great working with Rick and his team over the years, and we look forward to building on the existing relationship,” commented Joe Custer, president of Stewart-Haas Racing.
The deal with Roush Yates Engines is for several years. The engine lease program includes Next Gen trials in 2021, as well as a full season in 2022 and 2023.
Roush Yates said, “We are excited to welcome Rick Ware Racing to the Ford Performance and Roush Yates Engines family. We look forward to working together on the debut of the next generation of cars and NASCAR racing in 2022.”
The deal was announced just one day before the NASCAR Next Gen test at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
